What is Slack?

Slack is a messaging app we mainly use to connect amongst the team to stay aligned, feel connected and get work done.

Let’s take a quick tour..

From the sidebar, you can access your conversations in Slack.

You’ll see a list of our channels and your direct messages, notifications for specific conversations, and the option to compose new messages.

You can use the compose button to write and send a message to any conversation. Messages automatically save as drafts in the Drafts section of your sidebar until you’re ready to send them.
Communication within the team about specific topics takes place in channels. If you have a question for a specific teammate you can mention them to get their attention. They will receive a notification and the rest of the team can follow along for context. You can also add files to any conversation and record audio or video clips to collaborate amongst the team more easily.
A badge will show if a teammate mentions you. When there's new activity, conversation names appear bold in the sidebar.
Direct Messages
Direct Messages work well for one-off conversations that don’t require an entire channel of people to weigh in, like if you wanted to ask a teammate to reschedule a meeting.
